Family Promise - Weeks of January 6; May 5; June 30 and September 15

Forest Park will partner with Faith Christian Church, on Shawnee Road, to host homeless families at Faith Christian Church for four weeks during 2013. During these weeks we will commit to 3-4 days of preparing and serving supper and staying (in shifts) at the church from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM daily. Contact Jodi McDaniel 419-296-4703

Lincoln Park Clean-up Days - The 1st Saturday of the month April - November

Join us on Saturday morning from 8:00 - noon as we work at Lincoln Park to maintain and improve our eastside city park. Work includes raking leaves, trimming bushes, pulling weeds, picking up litter, painting, repair work, landscaping and improving the overall condition and appearance of the park. Join our team of volunteers as we work together at Lincoln Park. Contact Ted Bible 419-230-4384

Lima Rescue Mission (LRM) - The 3rd Saturday of the month

On the third Saturday of the month we prepare and serve supper to the homeless men at the Lima Rescue Mission. We need approximately 2 people to prepare food and 4 to serve 30-50 men between 4:30-6:00. Meals will be prepared at the church and taken to the LRM by our servers. Contact Ruth Mowery 419-221-1786

Churches United Pantry (CUP) - Ongoing

CUP is a food pantry that is organized, financed, and staffed by a number of local churches. They offer a 3 day supply of emergency food, once a month, for Lima residents who have financial need. Volunteers are needed in order to expand this ministry and as back-up for regular volunteers. Food donations are also collected weekly at the church. Contact Bonnie Plate 419-224-3534

Our Daily Bread - Ongoing

Our Daily Bread is a soup kitchen that provides cooked meals to needy Lima residents. We provide lunch servers once a month and back-up volunteers as needed. Contact Russ Parker 419-224-7010

"We Can Do That" - Ongoing

Single parents, seniors, disabled and those with limited financial resources in our church and local community have a variety of needs that they can't accomplish on their own. The "We Can Do That" ministry can provide assistance to individuals who have problems with: plumbing, minor home repair, minor auto repair, home maintenance, grocery shopping, transportation to the doctor and many more. If you have time and talent to contribute to people within our community, we need your help in this outreach ministry. Contact Errol Plate 419-224-3534

Habitat for Humanity - Apostles Build - Ongoing

This project calls for 12 churches in our community to work together to build a home for Habitat for Humanity. Working on this project allows people of faith to be the body of Christ in the world. Skilled and unskilled workers are needed to volunteer their time and talent to help with construction or assist with providing meals to the volunteer workers. Contact Bob Mowery 419-221-1786

Philadelphia Missions Adventure - July 6 - 13

This national missions experience is open to anyone 8 years old and older with a maximum of 30 participates. We will go the city of Brotherly Love to show God's love to many who are hurting. We may be involved with children's ministry, homeless work, and light construction projects as we partner with ministries in the area to be a blessing to the community. $75 deposit is required by February 15th to reserve a space. Mexico Mission Encounters - June 21 - June 28 & October 24 - 31

A team of 10-14 youth and adults travel to Tijuana to partner with Companeros en Ministerio and Pastor Maria in ministry at the Ministry Mall, CREER Rehabilitation Centers, La Gloria Church and other locations in the Tijuana area. Activities will include children's ministry, sewing ministry, and building and renovation work, food purchase and distribution to needy families, Bible teaching and sharing of our love for Jesus with everyone we encounter. A deposit of $100 is required by February 28th or August 31. Contact Ted Bible 419-230-4384

The Big Day of Serving - September 21

This is a partnership between Group Cares, a local leadership group and Forest Park to provide a one day neighborhood beautification project within the eastside of Lima and Bath Township. This will be the 4th year for the event in Lima and the 2nd year of our church involvement. Last year more than 300 volunteers from throughout Ohio completed more than 50 projects in 1 day. Projects include landscaping, painting, trimming, weeding, picking up trash and building relationships with our neighbors. The day includes a kick-off, lunch, and a block party celebration. Due to the generous support of the community, residents do not have to pay anything for the supplies or materials to complete the work on their properties. Contact Ted Bible 419-230-4384

5th Annual Forest Park Rummage and Bake Sale - October 11 & 12

Gently used items will be accepted in the Family Life Center beginning October 7. Items are not priced, but a donation is accepted for items taken during the sale. All remaining items are donated to a local thrift store.

4th Annual Lima Area Missions Weekend - Date to be determined

We will spend two days serving the needs of people and organizations in our community. This experience has opened new doors of opportunity for us to address needs of individuals and organizations within our community and specifically on the eastside of Lima. Ministry opportunities in 2013 may include: neighborhood clean up, "We Can Do That" projects, preparing and serving meals at the Lima Rescue Mission, church cleaning, performing random acts of kindness and much more.
